8/8/2023 0 Comments Verizon push to talk coverage![]() moreThe year they released the phone, Android 8 released.Ģ+ years later, they were still charging $700+ for the phone and they barely updated anything. It has a Snapdragon 630, it's old, it released. I have had my AT&T XP8 since it came out, and only problems I've had are the screen never worked with any gloves on, thin or thick, I was told over & over by Sonim techs it would be fixed in update, never was and last time I asked I was told to buy a newer Verizon XP8 ? I paid $750 and specs said work with wet hands & gloves, total bs, also the quick camera launch by double pressing the power button now launches with one push, not every time but a lot, that and battery not lasting as long as new just started in late 2022, Other than those three things the phone has been amazing, I leave it plugged into charger all the time and it never killed or bloated the battery, The camera is crap unless in good light or outside, It gets reception everywhere, even where much higher end IPhones and Galaxys won't, also other rugged phones, I removed the factory plastic screen protector and put tempered glass over the Gorilla Glass and have zero scratches or breakage, The dust cover for charge port still fits perfect, replacement costs a bit but every other phone company wants the phone sent to them to put new one on no matter how easy it is to do and won't sell you the cover, out of all other phones with port covers the Xp8 has the most substantial & thick and can be replaced easy at home plus remember the cover is just to keep dirt out the charge port itself is water & chemical proof, Lastly my last update was to android 10, I read people saying they still had 7 or 8 ? The speakers for music/mp3 using PowerAmp music player app and adjusting EQ, they have the deepest bass of any phone I've had or heard, the speakers are physicaly bigger like Kyocera phones & waterproof so they aren't in speaker box/enclosure, they use the entire inside of phone as box and can handle much more bass than tiny single speaker in tiny enclosure, All in all out of all the phones I've owned and has been many many - high end and all the rugged company's (Cat phones are overpriced junk) this XP8 that I'm using right now to write this has been the best and most rugged tough one of all and the best just as a phone and reception, With years of abuse I only had three problems one of witch can be fixed with new battery ($80 though, bit overpriced but all other amazon Ebay batteries are junk) and the phone still looks almost new, The new XP10 has some good upgrades and I will eventually get one but they didn't really upgrade the battery (5000mAh vs 4900mAh ?) and got rid of the physical back/home/return buttons witch I love, yes the screen is 1/2" bigger but the buttons are now on screen so you only get like an 1/8" bigger screen, the 1.8mm thick victus screen and 50mp + 8mp wide cams are great but I will still keep my XP8 and get new battery, I wish they kept the same phone did more ram & storage, the 1.8mm Gorilla Glass Victus screen, 5g isn't where I live yet so don't care about that, an actual bigger battery like 8000 or 10,000mAh (Oukitel & Unihertz have 21 & 22,000mAh models with night vision for less $$), Just feels like a long wait for new model and it is underwelming at best, just a big let down, but it is $200 less than the XP8 so that is one good thing, I will keep using my XP8 as a main phone unless the next model after the XP10 brings back the physical Buttons and tough military look with much bigger battery, at least 256gb of storage, night vision cam or Flir thermal, with same durability, My iiif150 R2022 Alpine edition in army camo body, 8gb of ram, 256gb storage, night vision and 8000mAh battery is my other fave and gets as good reception as the XP8 but is too big to fit in pockets and singl speaker sucks for music, I would love a XP11 or 12 in same army camo with 8 or more gb of ram, 512gb or 1tb storage, Thermal or night vision cam, But will never happen with how rugged phone companies have went from rugged durable phones that look rugged and durable to big screens with no physical buttons, thinner lighter and looking like every other average regular phone, The XP8 is the last of the trully durable phones that look the part.Īnonymous, There's so much hate for this phone.
